Rhetoric School

RHETORIC SCHOOL

Grades 10-12

Students in grades 10‐12 make up our Rhetoric School student body. These final years of school are dedicated to continuing the students’ studies in the Great Conversation with the ancients, a hallmark of the classical Liberal Arts tradition, including theology, philosophy and learning to articulate their thoughts and ideas eloquently. Faculty members engage with students in Socratic discussions, challenging them to apply biblical principles, critical thinking, and logic as they wrestle with challenges common to men over the ages. This helps solidify their understanding and application of the Word as they seek to rightly order their love toward God first followed by love for their fellow men, living all for Christ.

Rhetoric School Course of Study

All Rhetoric students study Applied Theology and Apologetics along with history literature, rhetoric, math, science, and fine art. All seniors complete the Rhetoric capstone thesis which is presented before a panel of judges who have an opportunity to challenge the thesis and give the student an opportunity to defend his position. This culminating event held in late Spring, presents the best of our students to the school and public audience. Finally, the K-12 experience concludes with an Immersive Apologetics Mission Trip with Maven Truth where students engage with others to share the gospel graciously.

Secondary School Supplementary Reading List

It is not possible to read all the wonderful books in a class during the course of the school year. Therefore we recommend students consider the following literature for reading outside of class.
